Managing a rental business means balancing a lot of moving parts. One of the biggest challenges is making sure customers can only book slots when you are actually there to hand over the gear or accept returns.
To give you complete control over your schedule, Be-Bookable rental software offers two powerful tools under your store settings: Opening hours and Closing times. Here is a breakdown of how they work together to keep your operations smooth and error-free.
Set your regular weekly schedule
The foundation of your availability starts with your regular operating hours. Under the Opening times menu, you can map out your standard week.
- Set weekly routines: Define the exact hours for each day of the week when customers are allowed to place orders, pick up items, or return their rentals.
- Precise time slots: Use the simple dropdown menus to set exact opening and closing times down to the minute.
- Avoid unexpected arrivals: Once saved, your webshop automatically restricts customer selections to these windows, eliminating the frustration of customers turning up when your doors are locked.
Easily block specific dates for holidays or breaks
Regular schedules are great, but what happens when you go on vacation, celebrate a public holiday, or need to close early for inventory tracking? That is where the Closing times feature comes in.
- Custom date ranges: Manually block out specific days or precise time windows to shut down your entire webshop for new bookings.
- Internal reminders: Keep your team aligned by adding an internal note to each closure block (such as “Closed for Easter weekend” or “Staff training afternoon”).
- Prevent double bookings: The system instantly prevents customers from creating new reservations during these blocked windows, giving you total peace of mind while you are away.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between opening hours and closing times?
Opening hours are for setting your standard, recurring weekly schedule (for example, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00).
Closing times are used to temporarily block out specific dates or custom time frames, such as holidays, staff training, or seasonal breaks, without changing your regular weekly schedule.
Where can I find these settings in the dashboard?
Both features can be found in your admin panel under Store settings in the left hand sidebar menu.
Can I set different opening hours for different days of the week?
Yes. When you create your opening times, you select the specific day of the week from a dropdown menu and enter the opening and closing times for that day. You can easily set unique schedules for each individual day.
What happens if a customer tries to book a slot outside of my opening hours?
Your webshop automatically syncs with your schedule. If a customer tries to select a pickup or return time outside your defined hours, the webshop will show those times as unavailable, preventing them from completing the booking.
How do I close my entire shop for a holiday?
To close your shop temporarily, go to closing times and create a new closure block. Enter the start date and time along with the end date and time of your holiday. Once saved, the system will block any new bookings from being made during this period.
What are internal notes used for in closing times?
When creating a closing time, you can write an internal note, for example “Closed for Christmas” or “Inventory check”. This note is only visible to you and your team in the admin dashboard, helping you keep track of why specific blocks were created.
Can customers still visit my webshop and browse items when my shop is closed?
Yes, your webshop remains online and fully browseable. Customers can still view your products and categories, but they will not be able to select rental slots or finalize checkout for dates that fall within your closed hours or holiday blocks.
